It’s the giving season, and everyone at Spherion is committed to doing their part to uplift our local communities. In the spirit of the season, we’re proud to once again be in the midst of our Community Giveback Program. Built with the goal of bettering the communities we call home, our franchise owners collectively donate more than $160,000 to local nonprofit organizations making a difference in more than 100 communities nationwide.

The Spherion North Dartmouth team works on the farm at the YMCA Southcoast in Massachusetts as part of the 2021 Community Giveback.

Since we began the Community Giveback Program in 2014, our local offices have donated more than $1 million dollars to essential community-based organizations. The nonprofits vary in size, scope, and cause and are selected based on their ongoing efforts to create change in their local communities. Some organizations that will receive contributions include the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, and Boys & Girls Clubs of America, along with local food banks, schools, and animal shelters. In addition to monetary donations, Spherion’s local teams also invest their time in ongoing volunteer partnerships with a wide variety of these organizations.

The Spherion Pennsylvania team presents a check for $1,000 to the staff of the Weinberg Regional Food Bank, a part of the Commission on Economic Opportunity (CEO) in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The Weinberg Food Bank distributes their goods to charitable organizations that feed the needy throughout northeastern Pennsylvania. These include food pantries, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, group homes for the disabled, day care centers, children's camps and senior citizens programs.

“At its core, Spherion is dedicated to bettering the communities we serve,” said Rebecca Rogers Tijerino, president of Spherion Staffing. “Our local franchisees do this daily by connecting job seekers with fulfilling employment opportunities to help businesses and their communities grow.

“Our Community Giveback Program puts the donation decision in the hands of our local franchisees who know firsthand how their communities will benefit from our generosity,” she continued. “It’s rewarding for our teams to spread some joy to hardworking and deserving organizations across the country.”

The Spherion Pennsylvania team traveled to Steelton-Highspire Junior-Senior High School to meet the Roller football team and donate $1,200 to their end-of-year celebration and spring seven-on-seven football team fees. The Rollers are a team close to Spherion employee Leane's heart. Leane acts as their football operations coordinator and team mom.

Additionally, the Community Giveback Program is an opportunity for franchisees to forge relationships with other organizations making a difference in their communities. We know that greater things can happen when we support each other. These local donations offer the chance for franchisees and local nonprofits to get to know each other's work and discover potential synergies that can further enhance the community.

Along with the Community Giveback Program, Spherion is committed to helping local client companies optimize productivity and help job seekers find meaningful work. Our 200-plus offices across the country are all filling rewarding positions that drive careers and help businesses move forward.
