Competition

Jackson’s staffing market is served primarily by a mix of local firms and regional players, but there’s clear opportunity for a staffing franchise to stand out through specialization in industrial, healthcare support, and skilled trades staffing. Spherion’s model—local ownership paired with national systems and support—offers a unique value proposition for businesses seeking both speed and reliability in hiring.

As industries continue to invest in the Jackson region and labor market challenges persist, a staffing franchise here can deliver vital solutions at the center of West Tennessee’s workforce.

Staffing Industry Analysts predicts the US staffing industry will grow by 1% in 2025 to reach $188.7 billion. This growth will be powered by lower inflation and interest rates that allow businesses to accelerate their growth compared to previous years. Regardless of economic conditions, the need for temporary employees to fill skills gaps and for permanent workers to fulfill longer-term business goals will remain stable.

Growth & Expansion Opportunity

How can you build your Spherion business in Salem?

Talent Acquisition Challenges

Many Jackson-area employers report difficulties in sourcing skilled workers in industrial maintenance, CNC machining, logistics, and healthcare. A staffing franchise that understands these workforce pain points can offer tremendous value through customized sourcing, screening, and placement services.

Flexible Work Arrangements

Although Jackson’s economy is rooted in hands-on industries, flexible work models are emerging—particularly in administrative and healthcare support roles. Temporary and contract staffing solutions can help employers stay agile as demands shift.

Seasonal Workforce Fluctuations

Manufacturing cycles, healthcare staffing surges, and seasonal warehouse demand all contribute to workforce variability in Jackson. This presents a strong case for staffing solutions that can scale quickly and adjust to shifting business needs.

Small and Mid-Size Business Growth

While large employers anchor Jackson’s economy, growth in small and mid-size manufacturers, service providers, and healthcare clinics is expanding demand for trusted recruitment partners. These businesses often need help finding the right people fast—and that’s where Spherion shines.
