Spherion has an immediate Direct Hire opening for a Buyer position with an oil & gas related company in the Lafayette, LA area. In this role, the Buyer will manage the end-to-end buying process to obtain the best prices and meet strict deadlines. They will also negotiate vendor contracts, optimize inventory levels, and ensure all purchases are in compliance with company rules and ethical standards.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Pay: $70-75K annually, depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Execute procurement strategies to meet company goals and reduce costs.
- Data Analysis: Analyze purchasing data to find savings and improve efficiency.
- Risk Management: Develop plans to identify and minimize supplier-related risks.
- Negotiation: Secure favorable pricing and terms through contract negotiations.
- Supplier Relations: Build and maintain partnerships with key vendors and stakeholders.
- Quality Oversight: Ensure all suppliers meet company safety and quality standards.
- PO Management: Oversee the full purchase order process from creation through delivery.
- Expediting: Manage urgent orders and internal requests to prevent production delays.
- Material Availability: Schedule purchases to ensure stock is available for both planned and unplanned needs.
- Cross-Department Coordination/Relationships: Work with Engineering and Quality teams to manage third-party services like inspections. Foster key relationships with Dept. leads, operations, production, sales, etc.
- Performance Reporting: Create and implement KPIs to track and report on purchasing activity, savings, and vendor performance.
- Policy Compliance & KPIs: Ensure all activities follow company ethical standards, internal approval policies, as well as performance targets, KPIs.
Skills:
- Experience within oil & gas is plus
Qualifications:
- Experience: 3+ years in Purchasing
- Experience with certified quality systems (ISO, API, etc.)
- Proficient with MS Office Suite and ERP systems
- High level understanding of purchasing, inventory control, and supplier management, with the ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
- Sharp organizational and analytical skills used to solve complex procurement issues independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills used to build professional relationships and collaborate effectively.
