This role involves machining precision components to close, exacting tolerances for high-reliability aerospace and defense programs. The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge of machining techniques, tool selection, and manual equipment operation.
Responsibilities:
Setup & Operation: Independently set up and operate 3- and 4-axis CNC milling machines, CNC lathes/routers, and manual machining/honing/grinding equipment using furnished jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
Multi-Axis Machining: Operate 4th-axis horizontal/gantry mills and/or 5-axis equipment (with guidance from lead technicians as cross-training progresses).
Quality & Precision Inspection: Verify part conformity against blueprints, specifications, and finish guidelines using precision measuring tools and Statistical Process Control (SPC) charting.
Tooling & Bench Work: Select proper tooling for multi-axis setups and perform required bench work to ensure parts meet tight tolerances.
Process Improvement & Troubleshooting: Assist team leads with process debugging, identify inefficient/non-capable machining processes, and suggest corrective actions.
Documentation & Tracking: Read shop travelers/order instructions, maintain strict material traceability, update production management software, and record machine event log entries for shift transitions.
Safety & Compliance: Properly handle and manage hazardous waste in the work area according to safety guidelines.
Working hours: 6:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Qualifications:
CNC & Manual Machining: Demonstrated expertise in setting up and operating multi-axis CNC machines, CNC lathes/routers, and manual honing or grinding equipment.
Tool Selection: Ability to independently select and load proper tooling for multi-axis CNC equipment and manual machinery.
Blueprint Reading: Strong proficiency in reading, interpreting, and working from engineering drawings, shop orders, and technical specifications.
Process & Software Familiarity: Ability to maintain accurate production tracking logs and utilize manufacturing execution systems (MES).
Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience: Proven hands-on experience as a CNC Machinist operating 3, 4, or 5-axis machines in a high-precision, close-tolerance manufacturing environment.
