Responsibilities:
System Design & Optimization: Lead the design and optimization of cutting-edge power distribution systems (480V to 35kV) for underground mining operations and other heavy industrial applications.
Project Management: Oversee engineering projects from concept to commissioning, including system architecture, component selection, load analysis, voltage drop management, short circuit studies, power factor correction, and PLC/HMI/DCS programming integration.
Project Estimating & Bidding: Estimate project costs, prepare customer quotes, define testing criteria, and manage timelines for bidding, design, and implementation.
Testing & Compliance: Develop and implement equipment test procedures to ensure optimal performance, safety, and compliance with MSHA, NEC, IEEE, and UL508A standards.
Documentation & Review: Review and approve red-line markups, and prepare technical documentation including schematics, blueprints, and reports.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with mechanical engineers, technicians, and other teams to resolve design challenges, incorporate client feedback, and innovate products.
Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing leadership on best practices in power distribution, quality assurance, and electrical/instrumentation system problem-solving.
Field Support: Support field troubleshooting, customer consultations, site visits, remote diagnostics, and equipment commissioning, requiring occasional travel.
Working hours: 6:00 AM - 2:30 AM
Skills:
A Master's degree or Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
Experience integrating substations and motor controls for underground operations is preferred.
OSHA or MSHA certification preferred.

Education: Bachelor???s degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
Experience: 7+ years in electrical engineering, with a specialized focus on power distribution in industrial or mining settings. A proven track record in designing and commissioning power systems, medium voltage equipment, or automation in harsh environments is essential.
Expertise in medium and low voltage power distribution design and electrical system analysis (load flow, arc flash mitigation, and protection coordination).
Knowledge of electrical troubleshooting tools (e.g., multimeters, current injectors, insulation testers) and MSHA-compliant ground monitoring.
Ability to interpret complex electrical schematics, one-lines, three-lines, layouts, and general arrangement drawings.
