This is a critical role with the explicit intention of the associate transitioning from Spherion into a permanent career within the first 3-6 months of the assignment. As a Spherion associate, you will play a key role in the assembly, testing and troubleshooting of various electrical and mechanical components, with a specific focus on 3-phase motor, actuators and control systems for larger, industrial settings where machinery requires high power and continuous operation.
Full Time | Temp-to-Perm | Monday - Friday 8:00A - 5:00P (1 hour unpaid lunch)
2 - 4 years' experience: $18 - $20 per hour
5 - 8 years' experience: $21 - $23 per hour

Our ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years' experience working directly with motor control system, have a passion for their craft and a desire to not only secure a long-term career within a fast-paced environment, but the want to continue to learn and grow within the organization.
This is a direct path to a permanent career. As a temporary associate, you will not be required to travel. Once you transition to a permanent employee, further training will be provided and travel may be incorporated into the role at that time.
Responsibilities:
The Engineering Technician is responsible for working alongside the engineers to assemble, test, and troubleshoot various electrical and mechanical components, including, but not limited to actuators and control systems. For immediate success, you should come experienced in 3-phase motors, control systems and have an ability to provide technical support, helping to ensure the delivery of high-quality products to customers.
- Assemble actuators, motor control boards, power control systems, and switching modules.
- Test and troubleshoot returned or defective actuators, control boards, and other products.
- Generate or modify wiring diagrams for specialized products.
- Provide technical support to customers on product installation and operation via phone and email.
- Review customer applications and recommend appropriate products and solutions.
- Resolve customer issues by analyzing technical information and proposing effective changes or solutions.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge to stay current with industry standards.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
- UPON PERMANENT PLACEMENT: Flexibility to travel as needed to customer facilities in the event troubleshooting cannot be done virtually
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

- Experience with Autodesk Inventor (for product dimensional data and design).
- Experience with AutoCAD (for wiring diagrams).
- Experience with laser engravers.

Qualifications:
- Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, mechanical diagrams, and assembly procedures.
- Demonstrated experience with installing, engineering, and troubleshooting electric motor applications and solutions.
- Knowledge of motor control and control engineering concepts.
- Familiarity with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and communication protocols (e.g., Modbus).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
