Available Shifts
We are currently hiring for three distinct paths. Note: All roles require 4-6 weeks of full-time training with a variable schedule based on your mentor's shift.
Full-Time: 40 hours/week with full benefits.
Part-Time: Approx. 30 hours/week (eligible for future transition to Full-Time).
Per Diem: Flexible scheduling as needed (eligible for future transition to Full-Time).
Responsibilities:
Performing "mini-registrations" for critical patients to get them into the system immediately so clinicians can order labs or meds.
Identification: Verifying patient identity using IDs to ensure medical records aren't duplicated or mixed up.
Consent: Obtaining legal signatures for "Consent to Treat" and HIPAA privacy acknowledgments.
Insurance Verification: Check if a patient?s insurance is active and whether the ER visit requires pre-authorization.
Asking for co-pays or deductibles.
Phone Duty: Handling incoming calls from other hospitals, police departments, or families looking for loved ones.
Safety Protocols: Managing "Code" situations by notifying the appropriate teams via the intercom or paging system.
Working hours: Various Shifts Available
Skills:
High-Speed Data Entry: Ability to type accurately (typically 40+ WPM) while simultaneously conversing with a patient or family member.
Situational Awareness: The ability to maintain "peripheral vision"-knowing when to step back for a medical emergency and when to step forward to gather info.
HIPAA & EMTALA Compliance: A foundational understanding of patient privacy and the legal requirement to stabilize patients before discussing payment.
Insurance Literacy: Basic knowledge of health insurance types (PPO, HMO, Medicare, Medicaid) and how to locate policy numbers on a card.

Bilingual Proficiency is a plus
EHR Experience: Prior use of software like Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.
Financial Counseling: Experience in collecting co-pays or discussing deductibles in a sensitive, non-confrontational manner.
Crisis Intervention Training: Any prior training in managing aggressive or mentally distressed individuals.
