Finish Trades Project Estimator – will be responsible for all detailed take off and production estimates for all carpentry, framing, drywall, plaster, and painting. This position will report to the lead estimators in both the Ohio and Florida markets. Types of projects include medical, schools and specialty theming projects.
Responsibilities of the Finish Trades Project Estimator:
Manage quantities and productions through the precon process consisting of schematic drawings, design development drawings.
Creates detailed quantity take-offs and compiles them into production value based, detailed estimates from construction drawings.
Reviews bids for accuracy and market value with Management prior to submission to Clients.
Reviews all finish trade projects with the project manager(s) to understand the scope of the bid for each project.
Assists project managers with project setup after being awarded a job.
Assists project managers with bid assumptions / exclusions and exact bid scope of work.
Assists project managers with estimating FLS change orders as requested.
Monitors the quantity and timing of bids submitted in both the Ohio and Florida markets for upload to Cosential.
Provides quantitative take-off data in requested formats to other estimators as requested.
Spearheads the creation and implementation of uniform estimating templates in Timberline.
Creates and tracks bid submissions for historical analysis – Hit rate by Client, Hit rate by Sector, Hit rate by Job Size, as well as track typical production rates by job type for estimating and back check purposes.
Adheres to the company's safety policies to create a safe work environment.
Performs other duties as assigned by Management.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Associate's degree in Construction Management or equivalent work experience of at least 3-5+ years
Previous estimating experience with a self-performing contractor is highly preferred
Advanced ability to read building blueprints, drawings, or models is required
Computer experience including Microsoft Word & Excel, Bluebeam or On-Screen Takeoff is required and Estimating Extended (Timberline) is preferred
VISTA software experience, accounting and project management experience preferred
Understanding of CPM (Critical Path Method) scheduling
Ability to travel to pre-bids/jobsites early in the morning
Must maintain a valid driver's license
Strong work ethic, and the ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions
