We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Flux-Core Welder (FCAW) to join a heavy-equipment manufacturing team in Bryan, TX. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, fitting, and structural welding of heavy-duty steel weldments, including custom winch frames, A-frames, and structural assemblies for complex marine and oceanographic launch systems. Responsibilities:
Execute high-quality Flux-Core Arc Welding (FCAW) on heavy structural steel plate, tubing, and channel, primarily in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
Set up, align, tack, and fit structural components according to detailed engineering drawings, AWS welding symbols, and shop schematics.
Operate overhead cranes, rigging equipment, positioners, grinders, plasma cutters, and torch-cutting tools safely and efficiently.
Inspect completed welds for surface defects, porosity, cracks, or dimensional inaccuracies using weld gauges and visual inspection standards; prepare joints for NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) when required.
Adjust wire feed speed, voltage, shielding gas flow, and stick-out parameters to achieve optimal penetration and clean, consistent weld profiles.
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment; strictly adhere to OSHA guidelines and company PPE safety standards.
Working hours: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Skills:
Prior experience fabricating heavy structural steel assemblies, winches, hydraulic frames, or marine deck equipment.
Dual certification or proficiency in GMAW (MIG) and SMAW (Stick) welding processes.
Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) prep work, including Magnetic Particle (MT) or Dye Penetrant (PT) testing protocols.
High school diploma, vocational trade school completion, or formal apprenticeship in welding technology.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-4 years of industrial structural welding experience focusing on Flux-Core Arc Welding (FCAW).
Ability to pass a hands-on shop weld test (e.g., 3G/4G FCAW on heavy plate or AWS D1.1 structural certification).
Strong capability to interpret complex engineering prints, shop drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and AWS welding symbols.
Proficient in the use of hand tools, beveling tools, flame/plasma cutting, and angle grinders for weld preparation and clean-up.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long shifts, work in varying shop temperatures, and bend, kneel, or maneuver into tight weldments as needed.
