1. PEEK Injection Molding Process Engineering- Develop, validate, and optimize injection molding processes for PEEK.- Establish stable process windows including:- Melt temperature control (360?400?C range)- Mold temperature strategy (crystallinity control)- Injection velocity profiling- Pack/hold optimization- Cooling and cycle time modeling- Conduct DOE studies and drive Cp/Cpk improvement.- Manage proper resin drying and contamination control protocols.- Support mold trials and production launch readiness.2. Tooling Design Guidance (DFM Leadership)- Provide structured DFM feedback on:- Wall thickness uniformity- Gate location & sizing- Venting for high-temp materials- Shrink rate prediction- Warpage mitigation- Flow length-to-thickness ratio- Review and approve mold designs before release.- Advise on:- Tool steel selection for high heat loads- Mold temperature control systems- Hot runner compatibility for PEEK- Ejection design for high crystallinity parts- Interpret mold flow simulations and validate assumptions.3. Quoting & Technical Cost Modeling- Evaluate new PEEK part opportunities for manufacturability and risk.- Develop technical cost models including:- Estimated cycle time- Machine size requirements- Material consumption & runner waste- Expected scrap rate- Secondary operations (machining, annealing, inspection, assembly)- Tooling complexity and cavitation strategy- Provide gate location and tooling concept recommendations during the quoting phase.- Assess part geometry risks that affect cycle time or dimensional stability.- Partner with Sales to ensure quotes are:- Technically feasible- Margin-protective- Based on realistic process assumptions- Identify when parts should be molded vs. machined from PEEK stock.- Participate in customer technical reviews when needed.4. Process Analysis & Continuous ImprovementLead root cause analysis for molding defects:- Voids- Warp- Incomplete fill- Flash- Crystallinity variation- Reduce scrap and improve first-pass yield.- Standardize best-known process parameters.- Improve OEE through cycle time and downtime reduction.
4-7 years
- Programming experience preferred.- Solidworks experience preferred.
- Bachelor's (Required) - in any Engineering or Engineering Technology- 5+ years injection molding experience.- Proficient in CAD (Solidworks preferred)- Mechanically / electrically inclined- Direct production experience processing PEEK.- Demonstrated experience quoting molded components or building cost models.Strong understanding of:- High-temperature barrel systems- Mold thermal control- Scientific molding principles- Tight tolerance molding- Ability to interpret mold flow results and apply them to cost assumptions.Mathematics: The candidate must know how to use a scientific calculator, understand addition, subtraction, multiplication, trigonometry, and some basic algebra.Physical: You must be able to lift 45lbs to chest level. You must be prepared to stand during work hours.
