The Professional/Direct Hire Division of Spherion Mid Ohio is partnered with a strong and growing organization in Richland County, Ohio, to find an experienced Inventory Manager to lead and optimize inventory strategy and operations across warehouse, manufacturing, service, and distribution environments. This role offers a competitive salary range of $80K–$100K, based on experience, along with a competitive benefits package.

What We're Looking For
• 5+ years of progressive inventory management experience in distribution, manufacturing, or industrial supply environments. Experience with chemicals, parts, or equipment is highly desirable.
• Strong leadership experience managing warehouse, inventory, and logistics teams, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
• Proven success driving inventory accuracy through cycle counts, physical inventories, and audits, with a goal of maintaining 98%+ inventory accuracy.
• Experience implementing lean principles and Kanban systems to support manufacturing cells and just-in-time replenishment.
• Ability to collaborate with purchasing and vendors to establish and manage Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs for high-frequency parts.
• Proficiency with ERP/inventory management systems and strong Excel and data analysis skills. Experience with NetSuite and RF Smart is a plus.
• Solid understanding of inventory techniques including ABC analysis, cycle counting, FIFO for chemicals/perishables, safety stock planning, and demand forecasting.
• Knowledge of hazardous materials handling and compliance, including proper storage, labeling, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) management, and adherence to OSHA and EPA regulations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.
• Certifications such as CPIM, CSCP, Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt, or hazardous materials training are a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
About the Role
This role is ideal for a strategic yet hands-on leader who thrives in building efficient systems, improving processes, and ensuring smooth material flow for distribution, manufacturing, and service operations. The Inventory Manager will oversee inventory operations across chemicals, replacement parts, janitorial supplies, site maintenance products, and manufactured components, while partnering cross-functionally with procurement, sales, manufacturing, and service teams.
Key Focus Areas in This Role
• Oversee inventory control across warehouse operations, manufacturing cells, service parts areas, and satellite locations.
• Lead and develop team members including Inventory Specialists and Delivery Drivers, while providing oversight to the Warehouse Manager.
• Drive lean improvement initiatives to optimize receiving, put-away, picking, replenishment, and overall operational efficiency.
• Design and maintain Kanban systems for manufacturing cells to prevent shortages and reduce excess inventory.
• Partner with purchasing to establish and manage Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs for high-frequency hardware and manufacturing components.
• Monitor and analyze inventory KPIs, including turns, days on hand, slow-moving inventory, obsolete stock, and accuracy metrics.
• Evaluate and recommend technology improvements such as barcode scanning, RFID tracking, automated replenishment alerts, and WMS enhancements.
• Support urgent operational needs including service technician parts fulfillment, rush orders, and kitting for service vehicles.
• Champion sustainability initiatives by reducing packaging waste, minimizing chemical overstock or spoilage, and supporting environmental goals.
