Not a build shop. This is a true troubleshooting role where your skill actually matters.
The Professional Division of Spherion Mid Ohio is partnering with an established manufacturing organization in Richland County, Ohio to identify Journeyman Tool & Die Technicians for 2 nd shift a DIRECT HIRE opportunity.
...
This is a hands-on, high-impact role supporting production in a fast paced environment where downtime matters and your ability to troubleshoot makes a real difference.
This is not a build only position. This role is heavily focused on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining dies in a live production setting.
If you are someone who enjoys solving problems, working independently, and being the person others rely on when equipment goes down, this is the kind of role where you will thrive.
**This is a direct hire opportunity. Day one, you are a full-time employee of the organization. You would NEVER go through a temp-to-hire process if selected!**
What You Will Be Doing:
• Diagnose and repair dies in a production environment.
• Troubleshoot issues directly on the floor with minimal supervision.
• Perform die teardown, adjustment, and rebuild work.
• Support press operations and respond to production downtime.
• Interpret prints and apply reverse engineering when needed.
• Maintain tooling to meet quality and production standards.
What This Role Looks Like Day-to-Day:
• Majority of time spent on troubleshooting and repair work.
• Mix of press-side and bench work.
• High level of autonomy and ownership.
• Fast-paced environment where problem solving is critical.
What We Are Looking For:
• Experience in Tool and Die, Die Repair, or similar skilled trades role.
• Strong troubleshooting ability in a production environment.
• Experience working with metal stamping dies or similar tooling.
• Ability to read prints and work from incomplete information when needed.
• Comfortable working independently and making decisions on the floor.
Compensation & Schedule:
• Hourly pay starting in the low $30's based on experience and placement level.
• Additional earning potential that can bring total hourly compensation into the mid to upper $30's depending on shift and consistency.
• Second shift schedule working four 10 hour days, with occasional Fridays and a rotating weekend schedule.
Benefits:
• Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage.
• Company provided life insurance, disability coverage, and additional protection plans.
• Retirement plan with company match.
• Paid time off and holiday pay.
• Annual bonus potential based on company performance.
• Company provided PPE and safety equipment allowances.
What Success Looks Like:
This is a role where you are trusted to step in, assess problems quickly, and keep production moving. The individuals who do best here take ownership, think critically, and don't wait to be told what to do.
Why This Role Stands Out:
This is not a role where you are standing at a machine running repetitive work. This is a role where your skill, experience, and decision-making directly impact production every day.
Ready to Take the Next Step?
If this sounds like the kind of role where your skill and experience would truly be valued, I would love to connect with you.
