Responsibilities:
- Training & Onboarding: Design structured onboarding tracks, deliver direct shop-floor training, verify operator skill competency before independent work, and track cross-training matrices.
- Standard Work & Documentation: Draft, update, and audit visual work instructions, safety protocols, quality checklists, and operational aids to capture best practices.
- Floor Support & Process Compliance: Spend significant time on the shop floor observing operations, coaching employees on standard compliance, and pinpointing process bottlenecks or unclear guidelines.
- Continuous Improvement: Collaborate across departments to root-cause production issues, reduce process variation, and turn floor improvements into documented standards.
- Leadership & Recruitment: Participate in interviewing new production personnel, evaluate candidate technical fit, and act as a backup production supervisor when needed.
Skills:
- Prior experience in fabrication, machining, welding, forming, powder coating, or assembly environments.
- Prior leadership experience as a team lead, supervisor, or technical trainer.
- Experience applying Lean tools, continuous improvement, or structured root-cause analysis.
- Background in skills-matrix creation and candidate interviewing.
Qualifications:
- Solid background in manufacturing or shop-floor operations.
- Proven track record of coaching, teaching, or mentoring technical team members.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, simple work instructions and training tools.
- Practical problem-solving capabilities and high attention to process consistency.
- Proficiency with computer applications and software used in manufacturing environments.
- Comfort and willingness to work primarily on the active manufacturing floor.
