Responsibilities:
As an Insurance Billing Specialist on this project, your duties will primarily involve:
Posting payments received via mail from patients and other responsible parties to the corresponding claims and patient accounts.
Answering incoming calls to process and post patient credit card payments securely over the phone.
Processing claims and accurately posting payments specifically for immunizations, strictly following established procedures.
Handling and processing Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) checks according to departmental instructions.
Applying unapplied patient payments correctly to outstanding claims as directed.
Scanning mail and various billing-related documents for accurate digital record-keeping.
Working hours: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Skills:
What You'll Bring Excellent data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy. Familiarity with medical claims, patient accounts, and payment application logic. Strong verbal communication skills for professional patient interactions. A self-starter attitude with the ability to jump in and contribute immediately.

Must-Haves: Candidates must possess these core qualifications to be considered for the role.
Athenahealth (Athena) Experience: Proven, hands-on experience navigating the Athena EHR/Practice Management system. Candidates must be fully proficient with Athena's specific billing workflows, account navigation, and payment entry fields.
Medical Billing Core Competencies: Demonstrated experience in payment posting, primary/secondary claims processing, and handling medical billing cycles.
High-Volume Data Entry: Exceptional typing and 10-key skills with a strict commitment to data accuracy (essential for clearing backlogs without introducing errors).
Patient Communication: Strong verbal communication skills required to professionally handle inbound calls, navigate billing disputes, and securely take credit card payments over the phone.
