The Mold Repair Technician is a highly skilled specialist who diagnoses, maintains, and repairs complex metal molds used in manufacturing (injection molding). The Mold Repair Technician is the primary defense against production downtime, ensuring that molds are clean, precise, and functioning within tight tolerances to produce high-quality parts.

Responsibilities:
Take apart complex mold assemblies, including plates, inserts, and cooling lines.
Remove gas buildup, residue, and rust using ultrasonic cleaners or specialized solvents.
Check for flash (excess material), cracks, or wear on the parting lines.
Operate manual machinery like Lathes, Mills, and Surface Grinders to fabricate or modify mold components.
Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators) to ensure parts meet specifications, often within ?0.0005 inches.
Maintain detailed logs of repairs and "shots" (cycles) to predict when a mold will need its next service.
Read and interpret blue prints and 3D CAD models.
Other duties as assigned.
Working hours: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Skills:
The ability to perform high-precision welding on mold cavities or parting lines without warping the surrounding metal.
Being able to navigate 3D CAD software (like SolidWorks or Mastercam) to verify dimensions or understand complex internal cooling channels.
Experience using ERP or CMMS software to track spare parts (pins, springs, O-rings) so they are in stock before a "line down" event happens.
Precision Surface Grinding, EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) basic knowledge considered a plus.
Journeyman Tool & Die Maker card or a technical degree in Precision Machining preferred.

1-4 years
Qualifications:
2-4 years of plastic injection molding experience.
2-4 years of experience operating: Manual Surface Grinders, Manual Mills (Bridgeport style) and Drill Presses.
Ability to read, write, and understand English.
Must be proficient in using overhead cranes, eye-bolts, and chains safely.
