The Production Lead is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations within their assigned division, ensuring that production schedules are met with precision and safety. This role combines technical expertise (operating complex machinery and managing batch tickets) with hands-on leadership to mentor staff and maintain high quality standards. Responsibilities:
- Knowledge and operation of all production equipment and computers within the division they are assigned.
- Operate other equipment assigned by management.
- Ensure that the correct products are produced with the aid of the schedule.
- Close batch tickets daily.
- Lead and train prodction operators.
- Ensure that operators on their shift are following procedures and processes in the production of products.
- Assist with the Preventive Maintenance Program.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of equipment and facility. Notify management of any safety discrepancies.
- Lead the effort in cleaning and 5S.
- Communicate with various departments and strengthen intradepartmental relationships.
- Follow company rules for safety, waste, and chemical handling.
- Maintain a favorable working relationship with company employees and promote a harmonious working climate which will be conducive to maximize employee morale, productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Make suggestions on facility production equipment and processes to improve performance.
- Establish expectations, demonstrate proper behaviors, and train production operators.
- Basic employee discipline; write-ups under the coordination of the Production Manager.
- Complete other related duties as assigned by management.
Working hours: 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM (Various Shifts Available)
Skills:
- College or technical training.
- Experience working with hazardous materials.
- Forklift certified.
- HazMat certified.
- Color matching and/ or quality assurance experience.
- Shipping/ receiving experience.
Education:
High School
Experience:
1-4 years
Qualifications:
- High school degree or equivalent.
- One or more years production experience.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide proficiently; this includes use and calculation of percentages, decimals, fractions, and whole numbers, and the understanding of unit conversions (i.e. kg to lbs)
- A self-starter; demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize work, and self-motivate.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to drive a fork truck.
- Ability to read and write clearly and concisely.
- Ability to lift 55-pound bags and move 55-gallon drums with the assistance of mechanical lifting devices.
- Standing, walking, sitting up to 12 hours/ day.
- Adherance to PPE requirements; including steel-toed boots, hard hat, safety glasses, and full-face respirator.
- Availability to work extended days or weekends as needed.
- Availability to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift on a rotating schedule.
- Able to work outdoors and in a non-climate controlled environment.
