      The Service Writer position assists customers in-person and on the phone requesting for service support/assistance with their vehicle. This is done by researching the customer's needs, communicating pricing and availability, making recommendations for alternatives products, creating orders, closing invoices and supporting the needs of customers and technicians. The Service Writer also performs various administrative tasks as assigned by supervision.Responsibilities:Ascertain problems, customer complaints and service request by listening to customers and confirming with authorized personnel within the customers organization; clarifying description of problems; conducting inspections; checking vehicle maintenance records and history; examining service schedules. Verifies warranty and service contracts coverage by examining records and papers; explaining provisions and exclusions; submitting warranty pre-approvals with suppliers. Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, labor and fees; calculating customer?s payments including deductibles. Prepare Repair Orders by wording customer complaints describing symptoms, problems and causes discovered, as well as repairs and preventive maintenance services required including recalls; obtaining approval signatures and/or proper approval for vehicles towed in; entering repair orders into service database system including building vehicle profiles if needed. Maintains customer?s rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicles; obtaining customer?s approval of estimates; obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers; answering questions and concerns; arranging towing. Maintain records by recording problems and corrective actions planned as well as maintaining a log of notes customer?s interactions either by telephone, email or in person. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading manufacturers? publications. Communicates clearly with customer?s, coworkers and vendors in a polite and professional manner with the understanding that you are representing the business organization as a whole to the customer as the primary face of the aforementioned business organization.Working hours: 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM (Various Shifts Available)Skills:Enhance organizational reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different request; exploring opportunities to add vehicle to job accomplishments. Build and maintain business professional working relationships with local customers and national fleets on an ongoing basis to promote rapport and repeat business. Expected to be able to work directly with the public and nonnative English speakers.Developing and building teams- encouraging and building mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team member.Education:High SchoolExperience:1-4 yearsQualifications:Ability to stand for extended period of times.Ability to legibly write freehand and type. Ability to work full time; possibly nights and weekendsValid CA driver?s license.Clean driving record is imperative. Ability to safely operate both standard and automatic vehicles. Strong communication skills written, spoken and the ability to handle personnel conflicts in a courteous and professional manner. Ability and knowledge of principles and processes for efficient and mandatory procedures required by programs and management.Able to type proficiently and use 10-key accurately. Ability to learn and adapt new software programs and website necessary for in house business system as they update or are replaced.
