      Currently, Spherion has an immediate opening for a Paralegal for a local law firm. The Paralegal is an organized, efficient, and experienced individual responsible for enhancing attorney effectiveness by performing a variety of complex administrative and substantive law duties/functions which may be highly confidential and sensitive including client intake and relations, case coordination and management, document preparation and drafting, research, litigation support and trial preparation. This is a full-time, benefit eligible position scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week.Schedule:Full Time / Mon - Fri / In time this can be transitioned into a remote position - must be willing to travel to the office for initial training, team and attorney requested in-person meetingsRate of Pay: $15 - $19.23 per hour depending on experienceResponsibilities:-Keeps cases organized by establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; inputting information into file database and case management software; confirming case status with attorney.-Helps develop cases by maintaining contact with people involved in the case; scheduling depositions; preparing and forwarding summonses and subpoenas; drafting complaints; preparing and filing discovery requests; preparing responses to opposing counsel; generating status reports.-Prepares legal drafts by assembling and organizing information for legal forms and documents, including complaints, declarations, discovery requests, responses, and other pleadings.-Supports case preparation by preparing case summaries and materials for mediation conferences; preparing pleadings; monitoring and obtaining discovery responses; organizing materials for team case review.-Enhances trial proceedings by organizing evidence; preparing exhibits; scheduling witnesses; ensuring that witnesses are ready when needed; taking courtroom notes.-Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications. -Researching aspects of the case for purposes of discovery, including requesting admissions and production, and factual legal research.-Attending hearings and trials in order to take notes, assist in jury selection, observe the jury, handle exhibits and many other tasks.-Schedules and arranges meetings and conferences and notifies interested parties; arranges travel for staff including scheduling transportation and making hotel reservations.-Operate and perform within the scope of and comply with Company policies, procedures and practices. -Performs other reasonably related duties as directed or assigned.Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PMSkills:-Possess clear understanding of and ability to articulate the mission of the Firm.-Knowledge of Firm policies, procedures and practices.-Knowledge of state and federal laws relating to the legal profession.-Ability to work independently, prioritize, follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion, with attention to close detail.-Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.-Possess effective administrative and organizational skills.-Possess efficient and accurate data entry skills.-Possess an attention to detail and thoroughness sufficient to identify errors in documents.-Familiarity with legal terminology and confidentiality requirements.-Knowledge of day-to-day operations of a legal office.-Demonstrated proficiency in use of MS Office Suite, including Word and Excel, Westlaw or LexisNexis.-Demonstrated proficiency in the use of case management software, particularly Amicus.-Ability to apply instructions and/or guidelines as appropriate in the performance of legal support activities.-Ability to maintain composure during stressful situations occurring as a result of workloads and/or deadlin
