Safely performs Laboratory tests according to prescribed standards to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of solid, liquid or gaseous materials and substances for purposes such as quality control, process control, product development, or determining conformity to specifications., Sets up, adjusts and operates laboratory equipment and instruments such as analytical balance, electronic balances, Ro-tap sieve shaker, volt-ohm meter, muffle oven, agitators, moisture meter, viscometer, sulfur analyzer and other equipment as instructed by immediate supervisor., Accurately tests materials such as anthracite coal, petroleum coke, metallurgical coke, and graphite for such qualities as ash content, particle size, uniformity, density, carbon content, sulfur content, moisture, electrical resistance, volatile matter and pH determination., Accurately tests samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications. Required to collect samples from plant facilities and prepare samples through any necessary steps such as drying, grinding, splitting, or micro milling., May prepare graphs and charts for all phases of SPC and Statistical computer reporting, or assist in periodic update of laboratory procedures. The position requires knowledge of Windows Based systems.
