      We have an opening for a Mechanical Project Engineer available in Luling, LA. Our client is a premier life science company focused on healthcare and agriculture. Compensation for this contract is negotiable for qualified candidates. The Intermediate Mechanical Project Engineer will support our diverse range of manufacturing projects. The incumbent will be supporting efforts throughout the site to maintain and improve the processes that go on every day. As an engineer in the crop protection team, the position is a key member in the plant that works every day to improve sustainable agriculture. This role is responsible for performing all aspects for a complete design of complex mechanical engineering assignments. Work at this level requires extensive progressive experience in mechanical engineering and involves applying advanced engineering techniques and analysis. This work will be performed under the supervision of the mechanical lead. The Intermediate Mechanical Project Engineer with serve as the project manager for their assigned projects for which they will also perform the mechanical engineering services for. This requires the incorporation of other disciplines to successfully complete the assigned projects on time and on budget.Apply today or if you would prefer to submit your resume via email or have any questions regarding the role feel free to reach out to us directly: 504-455-6565 / spherionneworleans@spherion.com.Responsibilities:- Familiarity with and utilizing department design and drafting standards- Mastery of the client Gated System and their respective documentation requirements; FEL 1 (Project Acceptance), FEL 2 (Project Charter) and FEL 3 (Project Scope)- Development of preliminary project description, schedule, and cost estimates upon project assignment- Accomplishing engineering activities such as stress analysis, construction specifications, equipment and material procurement specifications, calculations, and piping estimates.- Developing conceptional layouts / cost studies as necessary to determine the simplest, most efficient approach to solving the engineering task at hand; including not to proceed with the work if not feasible / cost attractive.- Producing estimate level preliminary designs / material take-offs for the level of estimate being performed on a project- Producing detailed design calculations and sketches for material of constructions associated with the project.- Reviewing and checking vendor / other discipline drawings for mechanical input- Checking calculations and equipment specifications by others to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, industry standards, design criteria, site/ global client standards and conformance to good engineering practice- In-depth knowledge of design standards and codes as applicable to rotating and static piping systems and equipment- Knowledge of good design practices for piping systems, sizing of compressible fluid piping, flexibility and stress analysis of piping systems, application, and knowledge of piping supports- Identification of need for safety devices (PSVs, PSE, CVs) and phase separation equipment (steam traps, liquid strainers)- Produce designs with efficient use of construction material with emphasis on ease of construction and meeting the project goals- Estimate and schedule professional service hours and assess the progress / quality of the mechanical work- Assist other engineers in developing and assembling scopes, drawings / specifications into packages, enabling mechanical purchase inquiries to be issued for procurement and materials or for subcontract pricing.
