Spherion Staffing, on behalf of a premier local public accounting firm, is actively seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Seasonal Tax Preparer for the upcoming 2026 Tax Season. Based in Redding, CA, you will serve as a crucial member of the tax preparation team, assisting in ensuring accurate and timely tax compliance for individuals and corporate entities during the busiest time of the year. Responsibilities:
Prepare complex individual (1040) and business (1120, 1120S, 1065) tax returns accurately and efficiently.
Review financial records, such as income statements, w-2s, 1099s, and documentation of expenditures to determine appropriate forms and schedules.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations and laws. Identify potential tax deductions and credits to optimize client tax situations.
Collaborate with the accounting team and partners to resolve tax-related inquiries.
Communicate effectively with clients to gather necessary information, explain tax liabilities, and answer queries.
Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive client information at all times.
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Skills:
Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA credential is a strong plus.
Education:
High School
Experience:
1-4 years
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Tax Preparer, Tax Accountant, or in a similar seasonal tax role.
Familiarity with professional tax preparation software (e.g., Lacerte, ProSeries, UltraTax, or similar) and QuickBooks.
Up-to-date knowledge of current tax laws, recent legislative changes, and standard accounting principles for the 2026 tax year.
Exceptional attention to detail and strong mathematical skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict filing deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Note: An active PTIN is not required.
