The Barge Loader is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate loading and unloading of cargo (liquids, grains, aggregates, etc.) onto barges in compliance with company procedures and regulatory guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Operate loading/unloading equipment such as conveyors, valves, pumps, and cranes.

Monitor barge draft, trim, and loading rates to ensure even and secure cargo placement.
Inspect barges prior to loading to ensure cleanliness, structural integrity, and safety.
Coordinate with dock crews, vessel operators, and terminal personnel during operations.
Maintain accurate loading records and complete required documentation.
Adhere to all safety procedures and environmental policies.
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of work areas and equipment.
Working hours: 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Skills:
TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
Basic knowledge of loading systems and product characteristics.
OSHA or safety certification a plus.
Education:
High School
Experience:
1-4 years
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
Previous experience in barge loading, marine terminal operations, or similar industrial work preferred.
Ability to work in outdoor environments and in varying weather conditions.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work at heights.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
