The Bench Mechanic is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and finishing sheet metal products based on detailed technical drawings and specifications. This role requires precision work using both manual and powered tools to ensure parts meet strict tolerances. Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and product specifications to determine fabrication, assembly, and installation methods.
Perform deburring operations to remove burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections using hand tools and power equipment
Strip remaining masking materials (such as silstic) from chemically milled parts.
Use air or electric abrasive tools (discs and sleeves) to smooth edges and remove build-ups.
Operate various tools and equipment including countersinks, grinding wheels, burring rolls, bench grinders, rotary files, drill presses, and jitterbugs.
Use precision measuring instruments such as ultrasonic gauges, micrometers, calipers, and scales to verify thickness and dimensional accuracy to tolerances of +/??? .002.
Ensure proper handling, labeling, and disposal of hazardous waste generated in the work area.
Participate in cross-functional projects and committees when assigned.
Perform other related duties as required.
Working hours: 1:00 PM - 12:00 AM (Various Shifts Available)
Skills:
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, chemical milling templates, and related instructions.
Solid math skills including the ability to work with fractions, decimals, and whole numbers.
Practical problem-solving abilities and the capacity to follow written, oral, or diagram-based instructions.
Basic computer skills with the ability to learn new tools and systems.
Critical thinking and sound decision-making skills.
Ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.

Experience:
1-4 years
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
