Core Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership & Team Management
Supervision: Lead and mentor a team of 3–4 accounting professionals, ensuring total accuracy in Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Payroll.
Cash Management: Oversee day-to-day cash flow, manage bank accounts/lines of credit, and develop precise cash forecasts.
Reporting: Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Audit Coordination: Lead the annual external financial audit, preparing all necessary work papers and documentation.
Cost Accounting & Inventory Oversight
Production Finance: Utilize expertise in Cost Accounting to establish Bills of Material (BOM), manufacturing overhead, and labor rates.
Strategic Pricing: Collaborate with Sales to set product pricing, analyze profit margins, and prepare complex customer quotes.
Inventory Control: Coordinate annual physical inventory counts and ongoing cycle counts to ensure asset accuracy.
Taxation & Budgeting
Compliance: Oversee the preparation of Sales/Use Tax returns and Federal Excise Tax Form 720.
Budgetary Control: Create and manage corporate budgets, as well as specific budgets for product lines and various manufacturing locations.
Tax Strategy: Maintain a strong understanding of depreciation, business tax credits, and multi-state filings.
Candidate Requirements:
Qualifications:
Experience: Proven track record in a Controller or Senior Accounting Manager role, specifically within a manufacturing environment.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to supervise and develop a small accounting team.
Education: Mastery in preparing accurate financial statements and internal management reports.
Technical Skills:
Cost Accounting: Direct experience establishing and analyzing costs for materials, labor, and overhead.
Tax Expertise: Proficiency in Sales/Use Tax and a solid grasp of multi-state filing concepts.
Audit Prep: Prior experience working with independent auditing firms.
Inventory: Familiarity with high-volume inventory management and cycle count procedures.
