The Controller - Human Resources is responsible for overseeing the financial integrity, controls, and regulatory compliance of HR-related functions within a financial services environment. This role manages payroll accounting, compensation and benefits expense reporting, and HR budgeting while ensuring adherence to strict regulatory, audit, and internal control standards. Responsibilities:
Oversee payroll accounting, reconciliations, and payroll tax compliance in accordance with financial services regulations
Monitor, analyze, and report on labor costs, incentive compensation, benefits expenses, and headcount metrics
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and industry-specific regulations (e.g., wage and hour, benefits, SOX)
Maintain and strengthen internal controls related to payroll, compensation, and HR financial processes
Prepare HR budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses; support long-term workforce planning
Partner with HR and Compliance on incentive compensation plans to ensure regulatory alignment
Support internal and external audits by providing payroll, benefits, and HR financial documentation
Oversee financial aspects of benefits administration, including vendor management and renewals
Develop executive-level reporting and dashboards related to workforce and compensation costs
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and risk mitigation
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
CPA or similar professional certification
Experience with SOX compliance and regulated compensation programs
Familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems used in financial services environments
Experience supporting incentive compensation, bonus, and commission structures
Prior collaboration with Compliance, Risk, or Regulatory Affairs teams

4-7 years
Qualifications:
5+ years of progressive accounting or controller experience, preferably in financial services
Strong knowledge of payroll accounting, compensation structures, and benefits cost management
Experience with regulatory compliance, internal controls, and audit support
Proficiency in accounting systems, payroll platforms, and advanced Excel
High level of integrity and ability to manage confidential employee and financial data
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
