Responsibilities:
A sit-down forklift operator is a key member of a warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing team, responsible for the safe and efficient movement of products and materials. This role involves operating a sit-down counterbalance forklift, which the operator drives from a seated position, to load, unload, stack, and transport goods. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Operation: Safely and skillfully operate a sit-down forklift to move, stack, and retrieve a variety of materials and products.
Loading and Unloading: Load and unload incoming and outgoing freight from trucks, trailers, and rail cars.
Inventory Management: Transport materials to and from designated storage areas, ensuring accurate placement and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This often involves using an RF scanner or other inventory management systems to track and record the movement of goods.
Order Fulfillment: Pull and prepare orders for shipment, ensuring that products are correctly picked, packed, and staged for delivery.
Safety and Maintenance: Conduct daily pre-operation inspections of the forklift, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and lights, and reporting any maintenance or safety issues to a supervisor. Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations to prevent accidents and damage to products or equipment.
Working hours: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Skills:
Certification and Experience:
OSHA forklift certification for sit-down counterbalance forklifts is often required or preferred.
Proven experience operating a sit-down forklift in a warehouse or production setting.
Technical Abilities:
Mechanical Aptitude: A basic understanding of forklift maintenance and operation.
Spatial Awareness: Excellent hand-eye coordination and depth perception to maneuver in tight spaces and safely stack products at various heights.

Attention to Detail: Critical for accurately picking orders, checking for damaged goods, and ensuring inventory records are correct.
Problem-Solving: The ability to quickly identify and resolve minor issues to maintain a smooth workflow.
Teamwork and Communication: The ability to work effectively with other warehouse staff, supervisors, and truck drivers to coordinate tasks and ensure efficient operations.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods while operating the forklift.
Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, as the role may also involve manual material handling.
