- Compile payroll data and statistics to maintain records and calculate payroll, including summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, and non-taxable wages.- Review and record new hires, pay rates, and changes affecting new wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, retirement accounts, etc.- Review for accuracy the reporting created and filed by third party payroll tracking system.- Track for time and attendance issues. Run payroll and corresponding reports in a timely manner.- Process garnishments, and incentive/sales/referral bonuses. Process year-end payroll, including the preparation and distribution of W-2 forms and 1095 forms in a timely manner.- Submit balancing reports to accounting after processing each payroll.- Provide reconciliation information for health insurance, life insurance and other benefit information to Accounting. Maintain various spreadsheets designed to assist in the balancing process.- Provide benefit information to employees, such as guidelines, explanations of plan details, and answering inquiries. Stay apprised of changes in the plan. Conduct annual enrollment meetings pertaining to the insurance and retirement plans. Consult with and advise employees on their eligibility for benefits.- Research inquiries about miscellaneous Human Resource related issues. Oversee and complete all projects as assigned. Keep management apprised of all critical issues.- Maintain complete discretion with regard to all employee and Human Resources department matters and discern whether an employee issue is simple and can be easily addressed, or whether it needs to be forwarded to and addressed by VP and SVP of Human Resources.- Assist with orientation / onboarding process for new employees.- Maintain and ensure accuracy of employee records including name and address changes, benefits enrollment forms, etc.- Support HR team to complete all employee termination tasks, including final paycheck, sending appropriate paperwork to former employee, benefits termination, and COBRA notification.
1-4 years
- 1-3 years working with payroll or accounting software. Experience with ADP strongly preferred.- 1-2 years professional banking or credit union experience preferred.- 1-2 years of professional human resources experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of basic payroll practices, tax regulations, garnishments, and employee benefits administration.- Exceptional math and calculation skills.- Ability to remain objective and confidential regarding employee concerns, and a willingness and ability to withhold judgment and action until all of the facts of a situation are known.- An understanding of, and willingness to support and foster, Credit Union culture.- An interest in continually learning about the numerous facets of the Human Resources field being willing and able to attend seminars, webinars, conferences, and additional training as requested and required.- Interest in obtaining/maintaining SHRM and/or PHR certification, and a willingness to obtain additional professional training and/or certifications as needed.- Possession of general math skills.- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.- Valid Montana drivers license and good driving record, plus the ability to maintain insurability under the Credit Unions vehicle insurance policy.- Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing and over the phone with all internal and external stakeholders. Courtesy and tact are essential.- Ability and willingness to interact calmly and professionally with people from all backgrounds.- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize day-to-day responsibilities with attention to detail and timeliness.- Ability to follow oral and written instructions- Bachelors degree in accounting, human resources, business, or related field preferred, or five years of related experience.- 1-3 years professional office experience.
