The Entry-Level Laser Helper is an integral part of the metals processing team, responsible for providing direct support to the Laser Operator. This position focuses on the safe and efficient handling, staging, and finishing of steel and aluminum products before and after they are cut by the CNC laser machine. Responsibilities:
Assist the Laser Operator in preparing the laser cutting table by staging raw metal plate and sheet materials (steel, aluminum, etc.).
Remove cut parts and excess skeleton (scrap metal) from the laser table, ensuring proper separation and placement in designated areas.
Perform initial quality checks on finished parts, including visual inspection for burrs or sharp edges.
Count, sort, stack, and accurately label finished parts for the next step in the production process or for shipment.
Assist the Laser Operator in verifying work order accuracy and communicating any material or quality discrepancies.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment around the laser cutting area, adhering to all company safety protocols.
Follow all instructions and safety procedures related to operating overhead cranes and forklifts.
Working hours: Various Shifts Available
Skills:
Prior experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, fabrication, or metal service center environment
Basic understanding of how machinery works and a general mechanical interest.
Previous experience or certification operating a forklift or overhead crane.
Familiarity with precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers or micrometers).
Basic ability to read and interpret simple blueprints or shop drawings.

1-4 years
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Strong attendance record, reliability, and punctuality.
Ability to safely lift and move metal products up to 50 lbs. unassisted and stand for extended periods.
Strict adherence to safety guidelines, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Foundational math skills (addition, subtraction, ability to read a tape measure accurately).
Ability to read, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions and safety warnings.
