The Wastewater Treatment Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment used in the treatment of industrial wastewater and hazardous materials. This includes monitoring filtration systems, handling chemicals, inspecting safety systems, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations. The role requires a focus on safety, accuracy in documentation, and the ability to follow procedures for chemical handling, waste processing, and emergency response.

Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain systems used to process industrial water prior to sewer discharge.
Run filter press to remove solids and dry filter cake.
Process aluminum trihydrate from the caustic rejuvenation system.
Operate drum filter and service pumps related to caustic rejuvenation.
Service wastewater fume scrubbers and conduct leak detection inspections.
Transfer etchant from process tanks and manage chemical inventories.
Analyze chemical solutions using titration methods (e.g., caustic enchant, N-1, N-2).
Add chemicals to process tanks as instructed.
Handle and store hazardous waste in compliance with D.O.T. and internal procedures.
Inspect transporter vehicles before hazardous waste shipping.
Collect and store used shop wipes, process empty containers, and clean process tanks using confined space procedures.
Install and repair PVC, steel, and stainless-steel piping systems.
Inspect and maintain emergency eye wash stations and safety showers.
Conduct routine environmental and safety inspections.
Maintain accurate records, including maintenance logs and daily reports.
Working hours: 5:00 AM - 2:00 AM (Various Shifts Available)
Skills:
Ability to read and interpret safety data sheets (MSDS), D.O.T. regulations, equipment gauges, and chemical labels.
Competent in writing clear and concise reports, logs, and correspondence.
Effective verbal communication skills across multiple levels of the organization.
Proficient in basic math (whole numbers, fractions, decimals).
Knowledge of basic chemistry and safety practices.
Decision-making skills for managing spills, leaks, and environmental hazards.
Understanding of applicable environmental regulations and safety standards.

Experience:
1-4 years
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Basic knowledge of chemistry at a high school level.
Experience with hazardous waste handling preferred.
24-Hour HAZWOPPER Certification required.
Confined Space Entry Certification.
CPR & First Aid Certification.
