The schedule is Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm. Candidates must be flexible, have the ability to work extended shifts, and to be on standby/on-call duty as needed. The pay rate is $74,880 to $85,280 annually. depending on experience. Annual Project and Safety bonuses are awarded each year. This position is eligible for a $2,000 sign-on bonus.

The Operations Chief will play an active role in the coordination and communication with assigned staff, client representatives, contractors, and any assigned engineering firms. He or she will also work closely with all parties to ensure effective system operation and optimization. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing hands-on work and producing all required reports. He or she will coordinate the on-going daily operation of the utility system.

Responsibilities:
-Operate, monitor, and adjust water/wastewater treatment processes and equipment, both manually and via SCADA, ensuring compliance with operational standards.
-Perform sampling, testing, and analysis to ensure water quality meets all federal, state, and EPA standards.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and minor repairs on plant equipment; utilize maintenance software and maintain accurate records.
-Monitor permit requirements, prepare environmental reports, and assist during inspections by regulatory agencies.
-Lead, train, and support plant staff in operations, safety procedures, and efficiency improvements.
-Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures, sampling regimens, and process monitoring tools to enhance treatment performance.
-Maintain detailed operational logs, review performance trends, and submit required data to regulatory bodies.
-Work closely with maintenance staff, contractors, and consultants to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.
-Test and maintain emergency generators and auxiliary systems; respond to plant operational irregularities.
-Follow and enforce safety protocols when working with hazardous chemicals, high-voltage systems, and rotating equipment.

Working hours: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Skills:
-Experience in monitoring and controlling plant operations using SCADA or similar automation systems.
-Strong understanding of federal, state, and local water/wastewater regulations and reporting requirements.
-Ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve equipment and process-related issues quickly and efficiently.

High School

Experience:
4-7 years

Qualifications:
-High School Degree or Equivalent.
-Valid Florida Drivers License required.
-Must possess at least a valid State of Florida Class B Drinking Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators Class B license.
-Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.
-Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Wastewater Plant operations with management experience.
