Our client, an integrated manufacturing solutions provider for the Automotive, Medical, and Industrial sectors, is seeking a highly experienced CNC/Machining Process Engineer. This is a mission-critical, senior-level role focused on establishing, stabilizing, and continuously improving the end-to-end manufacturing processes within their most complex production equipment: large line CNC cells.
...
Responsibilities:
This position is a Process Engineer role, not a programmer; the successful candidate is an expert on system performance and process flow management.
Process Design & Validation: Design, develop, and implement highly robust, repeatable, and capable CNC machining processes (milling and turning) to achieve Cpk targets for high-volume, precision components.
System Flow & Robotics Integration: Manage and optimize the overall flow of material and parts within large line CNC cells. This includes defining the parameters and logic for robotics processing (loading, staging, tool changes, transfer logic) to ensure seamless integration with the CNC cycle.
Continuous Improvement (CI): Utilize a data-driven approach (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, SPC) to analyze process performance metrics, including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and scrap rates, implementing permanent solutions to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
Tooling and Fixturing Strategy: Lead the specification, testing, and optimization of all cutting tools, perishable items, and advanced hydraulic/mechanical workholding to maximize tool life, part quality, and machine utilization.
Root Cause Analysis: Lead complex process-related failure analysis (e.g., unexpected dimensional shifts, tool breakage, or system faults) using systematic problem-solving methods.
Documentation & Standards: Create and maintain comprehensive process control plans, setup sheets, and detailed engineering standards to ensure consistency across all production shifts.
Working hours: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Skills:
Communication & Collaboration: The ability to translate complex engineering requirements into clear instructions for operators and to provide constructive feedback to design engineers.
Shop Floor Credibility: Having hands-on machining experience or a strong familiarity with the shop environment earns the trust and respect of the production team.
Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to address unexpected manufacturing challenges quickly.
Project Management: Ability to manage projects related to new equipment installation, process implementation, or major process changes on time and budget.
Education:
Bachelors
Experience:
4-7 years
Qualifications:
Experience: 5+ years of demonstrable experience as a Process or Manufacturing Engineer in a high-volume, precision metal machining environment.
CNC Expertise: Deep technical understanding of high-volume CNC milling and/or turning centers (Fanuc, Siemens, etc.) from a process stability standpoint.
Process Flow Management: Proven experience managing and optimizing complex, integrated production systems, specifically those utilizing robotics/automated handling within the machining sequence.
Quality Systems: Strong familiarity with quality standards (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO 13485) and the use of metrology for process control.
