Spherion Mid Ohio's Professional Division is partnered with a well established local professional accounting services firm on a confidential search for a Senior Accountant in Richland County, Ohio. This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA or CPA eligible professional who enjoys being hands on, working directly in the details, and building meaningful client relationships. This organization supports a primarily local client base with a strong specialization in regulated accounting services, nonprofit organizations, and trust based clients. The environment is collaborative, relationship driven, and fast paced during peak season. The right candidate will be comfortable rolling up their sleeves, owning their work, and helping stabilize and strengthen operations as part of a thoughtful succession plan.
This position is primarily in office, with the potential for limited remote flexibility after full training and integration for the right person.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Perform full cycle bookkeeping for multiple clients using QuickBooks.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Complete tax preparation for a diverse client portfolio using modern accounting software platforms.
- Support specialized accounting, compliance, and client reporting.
- Maintain accurate documentation and client records using CRM and Microsoft systems.
- Communicate directly with clients regarding financial questions, reporting, and timelines.
- Assist with workflow management and prioritization during peak season.
- Collaborate closely with ownership and administrative support to improve processes, efficiency, and long term scalability.
What We're Looking For:
- CPA or CPA eligible with a clear plan to obtain licensure.
- Strong bookkeeping experience and comfort working in transactional detail.
- Prior tax preparation experience strongly preferred.
- Exposure to nonprofit or regulated accounting environments highly desired.
- Trust or fiduciary accounting exposure is a plus.
- Comfortable being hands on in a small team environment.
- Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and client service mindset.
- Self motivated professional with interest in long term growth and leadership opportunity.
- Manufacturing accounting backgrounds alone will not be a strong fit for this role.
Schedule and Work Environment:
- Standard hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility as needed.
- Heavier workload January through April during peak season.
- Primarily in office, with potential for 1 to 2 remote days per week after full ramp up for the right candidate.
Compensation and Benefits:
- $80,000 to $90,000 starting base salary (based on experience).
- Bonus potential tied to performance and firm profitability.
- Two weeks of paid time off.
