Job Description:
Under direct supervision, the Skilled Production position(s) operate machinery and equipment to assist in the manufacturing and assembly of interior doors and all other of our customer's related building products.
Responsibilities:
- Sets up and Operates applicable machinery in the various plants to support the assembly floor and the finished product while achieving production goals, quotas and objectives.
- Provides guidance and training to the General Production positions as needed, to insure that accuracy, quality and production goals are achieved.
- Production Specialist in conjunction with the goals and objectives of our customer as written above.
- Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to appropriate plant personnel including, but not limited to, the Operator III positions, direct supervisor, or inspection or quality control personnel.
- Labels finished products to match appropriate paperwork.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations per plant policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines.
- Use of safety glasses, ear plugs, masks, steel toed boots/shoes, and associated safety equipment in order to be on the plant floor and operate the machinery, and perform the job duties in a safe and efficient/effective manner.
- Reports unsafe conditions to appropriate supervision.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Education: High School
- High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: 12 months
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience as a machine operator or similar industry experience required.
- Machinist Certifications and/or applicable classes or education involving comparable machinery and equipment may be substituted for the aforementioned experience at the discretion of management.
- Mid-Level math skills (i.e. fractions, decimals, multiplication, division, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of reading measuring devices, including but not limited to, measuring tapes, framing squares, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, and other applicable machine gauges required for machining the product from beginning to end.
- Basic knowledge and the ability to read appropriate schematics associated with the machining task.
Physical:
- The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- The employee must occasionally and/or frequently lift and/or move stock, materials and unfinished and finished production oriented materials in and near their work areas that weigh between 10 and 75 pounds.
