Spherion WI & Northern IL is expanding our Skilled Trades practice across the region. Manufacturers and industrial employers continue to face significant challenges hiring maintenance technicians, industrial electricians, CNC machinists, welders, field service technicians, and other skilled trades professionals.

We are looking for a Skilled Trades Recruiter / Recruiting Specialist to help build this practice by both recruiting skilled trades talent and developing client relationships. This is a full-desk role, meaning success requires the ability to find great candidates, build relationships with local employers, uncover hiring needs, and generate job orders.

This could be a great fit for someone with recruiting experience, staffing experience, B2B sales experience, manufacturing exposure, workforce development experience, or the right mix of curiosity, drive, communication skills, and follow-through. Prior skilled trades recruiting experience is helpful, but not required. We are willing to train someone who is motivated, coachable, comfortable initiating conversations, and interested in learning how manufacturing and skilled trades hiring works.

In this role, you will spend time building relationships with candidates, learning about their experience and career goals, and matching them with opportunities at local companies. You will also be expected to actively develop client relationships by reaching out to manufacturing and industrial employers, identifying hiring challenges, scheduling conversations, visiting client sites, and creating opportunities for Spherion to support their skilled trades hiring needs.

This role is based within the local market you support and requires regular in-office presence. Because this is a relationship-driven, client-facing role, you will also spend significant time visiting client sites. Flexibility exists in how you structure your day, but success requires being active and visible in the local market.

What you’ll do

• Conduct proactive outreach to plant leaders, maintenance managers, and operations leadership through cold outreach, in-person visits, referrals, and networking
• Develop a pipeline of skilled trades talent through targeted sourcing activities, including job boards, social media, referrals, networking events, and community outreach
• Provide consultative services to clients to help them solve their talent gaps and build long-term relationships
• Become an expert in local manufacturing environments and skilled trades roles to act as a trusted advisor to clients on hiring, pay trends, and workforce planning
• Coordinate interviews, offers, and onboarding while guiding both clients and candidates through decision-making
• Contribute to team goals, sharing insights and strategies that improve overall candidate experience and client satisfaction
• Maintain accurate records in our internal systems, tracking communication and activities with clients and candidates

Helpful, but not required:

• Prior recruiting experience
• Prior staffing industry experience
• Experience recruiting skilled trades, manufacturing, industrial, or technical talent
• B2B sales or business development experience
• Experience working in or around manufacturing, maintenance, production, or skilled labor environments
• Familiarity with roles such as maintenance technician, industrial electrician, CNC machinist, welder, mechanic, or field service technician

Compensation & benefits

The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $75,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. In addition, you will be eligible for an incentive program based on successful placements with clients. As the desk grows, strong performers have the opportunity to earn meaningful incentive compensation. Additional details shared during the interview process.
