The Director of Manufacturing Engineering is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing all manufacturing engineering processes. This director will lead a team of engineers, champion a culture of continuous improvement, and collaborate closely with the Product Design team to ensure new products are efficiently and successfully brought to market. Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Budget Management: Develop and execute long-term manufacturing engineering strategies, managing department budgets, resource allocation, and capital equipment planning.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Provide clear leadership, foster a culture of technical excellence, and actively develop and mentor engineering managers and emerging technical leaders.
- New Product Introduction (NPI): Serve as the critical liaison with Product Design, driving Design for Manufacturability (DFM/DFA) and overseeing all manufacturing readiness activities through the phase-gate process.
- Continuous Improvement (CI): Champion and implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other CI methodologies to drive operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
- Project & Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of complex projects concurrently, ensuring alignment with timelines, budget, and scope, and promoting best practices in risk management.
- Process Optimization
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in an Engineering Manager or comparable strategic leadership role.
- Critical Skills: Demonstrated expertise in leading New Product Introduction (NPI) processes, deep knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma principles, and a proven track record of complex, multi-project project management.
