- Develop and implement comprehensive internal, financial, operational and compliance audit programs for the Credit Union.- Review internal controls within the Credit Union at appropriate intervals to determine whether they are carrying out their intended functions in accordance with management instructions, policies and procedures.- Review the means of safeguarding assets and, as appropriate, verify the existence of such assets.- Evaluate and identify key areas of risk and conduct internal audits in accordance with established standards and practices.- Maintain work papers sufficient to support findings, conclusions and recommendations.- Prepare and submit audit summary reports detailing findings and any recommended corrective measures to the Supervisory Committee and Senior Management; present these reports at Supervisory Committee and / or Senior Management meetings upon request.- Monitor and analyze developing trends and changes in audit field and regulatory compliance laws / rules / regulations and advise management of the operational impact of such trends and changes, facilitate implementation of regulatory changes as necessary.- Continue professional development through training and participation in professional organizations.- Travel to branch offices as required.
4-7 years
- Bachelors degree in business administration, accounting or finance preferred.- Five to eight years minimum of experience within the credit union or banking industry required.- Broad knowledge of credit union or other financial institution operating areas, functions, products and services, and the laws and regulations which apply to credit unions, required.- Knowledge of loan standards and sufficient understanding to analyze the quality of loan decisions and related documentation (includes commercial and mortgage loans) required.
- Excellent analytical ability, and ability to conduct thorough research, interpret and understand laws and regulations, and provide workable recommendations and solutions to problems.- Valid Montana drivers license and good driving record, plus the ability to maintain insurability under the Credit Unions vehicle insurance policy.- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.- Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing and over the phone with all internal and external stakeholders. Courtesy and tact are essential. - Ability and willingness to interact calmly and professionally with people from all backgrounds.- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize day-to-day responsibilities with attention to detail and timeliness. - Ability to follow oral and written instructions.- Ability to work with others in an effective manner, listen well, share work-related information and be tolerant of others work styles.- Competent with Microsoft Office; ability and willingness to work with a variety of office equipment and software systems.- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs., with or without accommodation.- Complete mandatory annual BSA training that includes Red Flag, Identity Theft, OFAC, CTR and SAR reporting and thresholds, as well as the safe keeping of member information, and passes any applicable tests.
