Spherion WI & Northern IL is seeking a driven IT Business Development Manager to join our team at an exciting time. We have deep roots in Madison and are expanding into the Appleton/Green Bay and Milwaukee markets. In this role, you'll drive client acquisition through relationship-driven outreach and long-term partnership development to grow our IT practice across the region.
The ideal candidate enjoys starting conversations, understanding how businesses use technology, and identifying workforce solutions that fit. They're organized in how they manage a pipeline and motivated by building something over time rather than closing one-off transactions.
This role is based out of our Madison office, but you won't spend much time at a desk - you'll be active in the market meeting clients, attending events, and building relationships across the region.

What you’ll do
- Create and execute a strategic business development plan to grow our IT staffing presence in our markets (Greater Madison, Fox Valley / Green Bay, Milwaukee, Rockford)
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through cold calling, networking, LinkedIn outreach, industry events, and local market visits
- Build relationships with technology leaders, including CIOs, CTOs, IT directors, and HR leaders managing technical teams
- Manage a pipeline of prospective IT clients, maintaining a structured outreach plan to meet and exceed sales goals
- Promote Spherion’s technical staffing solutions, including contract, contract-to-hire, and direct hire IT placements
- Own the full B2B IT sales cycle, from lead generation and prospecting through negotiation and contract signing
- Partner with IT recruiters to ensure seamless handoff of new requisitions, clear client expectations, and strong delivery
- Maintain accurate documentation of sales activities, pipeline updates, and client conversations in our CRM system
- Stay informed on technology workforce trends, emerging skill demands, and competitive dynamics in the Madison–Rockford market
- Offer consultative solutions that align with each client’s IT hiring needs and workforce strategy
- Uphold organizational values in all communication and interactions
What we’re looking for
- 3+ years of proven success in relationship-based B2B sales in IT staffing, recruiting, consulting, or related technology services
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience in IT staffing or B2B sales may be considered
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Demonstrated ability to generate leads, close deals, and manage a full sales cycle
- Comfortable engaging with technical and HR decision-makers, from IT managers to C-level executives
- Familiarity with IT roles and skill sets (i.e., software development, ERP, project management)
- Proficiency in CRM systems and outreach platforms (e.g., Zoom, LinkedIn, HubSpot)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to translate technical hiring needs into business solutions
- Motivated self-starter with a competitive and enthusiastic attitude
