• Lead complex design assignments, creating initial proposals and developing designs from concept to production using CAD models and detailed drawings.
• Collaborate directly with customers to define design parameters and exchange crucial information throughout the design process.
• Work closely with vendors and suppliers, soliciting quotes and ensuring design intent is met.
• Develop comprehensive test plans for new and existing products.
• Provide essential support to manufacturing, assisting with production, assembly, and testing.
• Investigate and resolve design and manufacturing issues, identifying and implementing changes to improve product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Support sales efforts by creating conceptual CAD models, layouts, and drawings.
• Ensure the mechanical fit of all components within assemblies, including stack-up analysis, and verify component availability for designs.
• Self-check and cross-check colleagues' assignments for accuracy, functionality, and manufacturability.
• Mentor junior team members within the department.
• Research high-level topics and issues, identifying, analyzing, and developing solutions to complex problems.
• Perform essential engineering calculations.

Skills:

• The ability to work effectively within cross-departmental teams or independently.
• An excellent capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

What You'll Bring:

• A Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• A minimum of 15 years of experience in product design within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in various CAD packages (e.g., SolidWorks, ACAD).
• Knowledge of ERP / MRP systems.
• Proficiency in using manual inspection equipment such as calipers and micrometers.
