What You'll Do:
- Lead complex design assignments, creating initial proposals and developing designs from concept to production using CAD models and detailed drawings.
- Collaborate directly with customers to define design parameters and exchange crucial information throughout the design process.
- Work closely with vendors and suppliers, soliciting quotes and ensuring design intent is met.
- Develop comprehensive test plans for new and existing products.
- Provide essential support to manufacturing, assisting with production, assembly, and testing.
- Investigate and resolve design and manufacturing issues, identifying and implementing changes to improve product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Support sales efforts by creating conceptual CAD models, layouts, and drawings.
- Ensure the mechanical fit of all components within assemblies, including stack-up analysis, and verify component availability for designs.
- Self-check and cross-check colleagues' assignments for accuracy, functionality, and manufacturability.
- Mentor junior team members within the department.
- Research high-level topics and issues, identifying, analyzing, and developing solutions to complex problems.
- Perform essential engineering calculations.
Skills:
- The ability to work effectively within cross-departmental teams or independently.
- An excellent capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
What You'll Bring:
- A Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in product design within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in various CAD packages (e.g., SolidWorks, ACAD).
- Knowledge of ERP / MRP systems.
- Proficiency in using manual inspection equipment such as calipers and micrometers.
