Responsibilities:
Service Writing:
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with their service needs.
- Listen attentively to customer concerns and accurately document service requests.
- Create detailed work orders, specifying required repairs and estimated costs.
- Communicate regularly with technicians regarding job progress and any additional findings.
- Keep customers informed of repair status, potential delays, and approval for additional work.
- Prepare invoices and process payments for services rendered.
- Schedule service appointments and manage the service calendar.
- Maintain organized service records and documentation.
Parts Counter:
- Assist technicians and customers in identifying and locating necessary marine parts.
- Utilize parts diagrams, catalogs, and computer systems to ensure accurate part identification.
- Manage parts inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and returning parts.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Process part sales, handle cash and credit card transactions.
- Maintain a clean and organized parts department.
- Build and maintain relationships with parts vendors.
Skills:
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Basic mechanical aptitude; marine knowledge is a plus but not required if automotive service writing experience is present.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Service Writer is required. Experience in the automotive industry is highly relevant and welcomed.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with service management and parts inventory software.
