This role leads the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program - a cornerstone community initiative that provides free, high-quality income tax preparation and connects clients to workforce and financial empowerment services. The ideal candidate is organized, community-oriented, and passionate about helping others achieve financial well-being.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the year-round Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, ensuring consistent quality and compliance across all sites.
Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and temporary staff, ensuring proper IRS certification and adherence to confidentiality standards.
Develop program schedules, manage site logistics, and oversee secure handling of sensitive tax information.
Build partnerships with community organizations, funders, and internal teams to meet grant and service goals.
Deliver annual training sessions and continuing education for volunteers.
Maintain detailed program documentation, including contracts, reports, and metrics.
Promote the VITA program through outreach events, media, and public presentations.
Support integration of tax services with broader financial coaching and workforce development programs.
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Various Shifts Available)
Skills:
Associate's degree or equivalent experience in program coordination, accounting, or social services.
Minimum 2 years' experience in tax preparation, community programming, or volunteer management.
Ability to obtain IRS Advanced VITA Certification (training provided).
Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and online meeting tools.
Experience with outcome tracking or database systems (e.g., Efforts to Outcomes, ETO) preferred.
Compassionate and professional approach to working with low-income and diverse populations.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
