Idaho-Born Brothers Acquire Spherion Staffing & Recruiting Office in Boise

Award-Winning Franchise Owners Expand Beyond Three Utah Locations, Bringing Specialized Recruiting Expertise and Operational Support to Boise

BOISE, Idaho – Spherion Staffing and Recruiting (Spherion) welcomes brothers John and Tim Larsen as the new owners of its existing Boise-area office. The fourth-generation Idahoans acquired the office from longtime franchisee Ron Zarbock in a transition that took effect Sept. 28, marking their first expansion beyond their three existing locations in Utah.

For Boise businesses, the Larsens' priority is to maintain and strengthen existing relationships while broadening the support available to employers and job seekers in Ada, Boise, Canyon, Elmore, Gem, Owyhee, and Payette counties. To deliver that support, the Meridian-based location will operate as an extension of John and Tim's broader staffing network. This team includes specialized skilled trades and professional recruiters along with experienced branch managers, sales executives, account managers and marketers. Karmella Martinez, the office's recruiting coordinator, will continue serving southern Idaho clients while working closely with the Utah team.

“Every employer in our community faces different workforce challenges, and our role is to understand those needs and help them find the right solutions,” said John. “A client dealing with a sudden change in demand has a different challenge than one trying to fill a highly specialized role. We want to understand what's happening inside their businesses first, then work to get them what they need to succeed.”

That emphasis on understanding employers' operations reflects the brothers' professional backgrounds before Spherion. John's career includes executive leadership at Ford Motor Company, aligning international resource deployment with overarching strategic goals, as well as entrepreneurial ventures focused on technology and HR solutions. Tim brings more than 20 years of experience in finance and operations with manufacturing and light industrial companies, including firsthand experience using staffing solutions to manage changing workforce demands.

The brothers also see opportunities to expand Spherion’s  services in Idaho by pursuing new relationships with employers in the light industrial and data center sectors while continuing to develop their skilled trades and professional recruiting services. 

For John and Tim, the acquisition also carries personal significance. Both grew up in southeastern Idaho, and Tim spent eight years living in Boise after college before relocating to Utah. 

“Boise was my home for eight years, and I’m excited to deepen and grow the connections I have here through this business,” said Tim. “When I think about what this office can accomplish, I think about local companies being able to take on more work because they have the right people, and residents finding jobs that allow them to build their futures here. That's the kind of impact that makes this opportunity especially important to us.”

Since becoming Spherion franchise owners in 2025, John and Tim have focused on building an experienced team and strengthening their offices across northern Utah. In their first year of ownership, their team maintained a fill rate above 90% for more than six months. In recognition of their success, their team and earned three national honors at the 2026 Spherion National Meeting, including the President's Award, On-Premise of the Year and Rookies of the Year.
