Experienced Entrepreneur Opens Recruiting and Staffing Office to Meet Local Labor Demand

MINNEAPOLIS – Spherion Staffing and Recruiting (Spherion) announced today it will open a new office to serve hiring needs in the northern Minneapolis area. Mai Vang, skilled recruiter and determined entrepreneur, will open the new location in late March.

“The opportunity to own a business where I can leverage my human resources background and connect with more people in my community is truly a dream come true,” said Vang, franchise owner of Spherion Twin Cities North. “As an immigrant myself, I want to bridge the gap between the Minneapolis immigrant community and quality employment opportunities. Many immigrants are underemployed due to lack of professional connections, so this business will bring value to the immigrant communities here and help more people get to work. I see great economic opportunity in the Minneapolis area, and I look forward to helping both businesses and residents in the city.”

Vang started her career working as a recruiting specialist for a local staffing agency while studying at the University of Minnesota. She eventually worked her way up to serve as an onsite manager for a large industrial client. Following graduation, she served as a human resources (HR) generalist, HR consultant and director of operations for 12 years with a local home care agency. During that time, Vang also became a licensed real estate agent and investor, and has had success selling and flipping houses while developing local rental properties.

Vang’s strong entrepreneurial spirit and love for the staffing industry propelled her to open a new Spherion office in Northern Minneapolis, and she looks forward to serving local jobseekers and businesses alike.

“Mai’s strong work ethic combined with her onsite HR management and staff recruiting experience in the industry make her an excellent leader to bring Spherion back to Northern Minneapolis,” said Rebecca Rogers Tijerino, group president of Spherion. “Her background in real estate has prepared her for business ownership, and we look forward to supporting Mai and her team as they launch and grow Spherion in Minneapolis.”

Each Spherion office enriches its community through connecting and facilitating employment opportunities every day—and when successful, the office and its investments flow back into the neighborhoods it serves. The power of Spherion is in its local roots.
