We won’t be the first to tell you: 2022 flew by fast! As this year is wrapping up, we want to take the opportunity to share an end of year reflection on the growth of our brand throughout this year. Here are some of the highlights:

Created a Winter Games of Our Own

We started the year off strong with our own Winter Games! The goal of this cold-weather campaign was to support our franchisees as they helped businesses address pandemic-related staffing shortages. The Winter Games inspired franchisees to engage with new and existing employees in their roles through Olympic-themed cash giveaways. As a premier staffing and recruiting agency, we are committed to helping our franchisees engage and retain their local workforce with meaningful and competitive work opportunities. Based on the success of the Winter Games - and the fun we had giving away more than $50,000 - we look forward to launching more campaigns in 2023 that help our franchise community connect with even more job seekers and employers.

Expanded Our Franchisee Footprint

The general staffing industry has been continuing on its strong upward trajectory, with some segments growing by more than 16%! As part of the industry’s growth, Spherion expanded its location roster with eight openings this year. Our eight new offices are located in Denver, Colorado; Worcester, Massachusetts; Louisville, Kentucky; Atlanta, Georgia; Los Angeles, California; and Ft. Worth and Austin, Texas. The new franchisees powering these locations are already investing in their communities to better serve job seekers and clients, and are excited to be part of the Spherion family in 2023!

Showcased the Strength of our Franchise Network at Our National Meeting

Last March, the Spherion franchise community gathered in person for the first time in nearly two years in Las Vegas for our annual national meeting. During the meeting, we connected, exchanged ideas, learned business best practices from one another and recharged to better handle the ever-evolving U.S labor market. We also recognized each other’s successes from the previous year, and celebrated our contributions to the communities we serve. We cannot wait to continue to celebrate our strong network throughout 2023 and beyond.

Gave Emerging Scholars a Leg Up

We believe in supporting our future workforce as they build a career they’ll love. Spherion's franchisee-funded Sandy Mazur Excellence in Leadership Scholarship awards up to $2,500 to outstanding students of any age who wish to further their education with technical, skilled training, or college.

In 2022, our franchisees personally contributed thousands of dollars to help fund the post-secondary ambitions of three deserving students:

  • Emma Schultz, who is studying international business and marketing at Central Michigan University
  • Jacob Reeder, who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in parks, recreation and sports management.
  • Elizabeth Wunderlich, who is working to become a pediatric oncologist at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse

We’re proud to support students like Emma, Jacob and Elizabeth. Goals like theirs are what make our communities stronger!

Awarded a Truck to Close out the Second Annual Spherion Works Sweepstakes

The 2021 Spherion Works Sweepstakes was such a success that we relaunched it in 2022 with several improvements. First, EVERY Spherion office had a guaranteed $500 winner, just for working! Second, we upped our prize purse to offer multiple regional prizes ranging from $1,000 to $6,000. Third, we chose an amazing grand prize selected to fit nearly every Spherion employee’s lifestyle - a brand new, family-friendly (but still fire) pickup truck! Besides recognizing our employees for their hard work, we built the 2022 Spherion Works Sweepstakes to help our franchisees attract and retain qualified candidates. The end of the year is peak season for many employers, and third-quarter promotions like this are an effective way to build a solid pipeline of skilled employees who  help clients meet increased year-end production/service goals.

Continued Investing in Our Communities

This year, our annual philanthropy program began on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 29. In honor of the winter holiday season, our franchisees donated more than $165,000 to charitable partners making positive change in their local communities during our Community Giveback. Some locations involved their employees and neighbors by surveying them to ask which nonprofits needed a donation most. Once decided, a team from each Spherion office presented a check to their favorite nonprofit to further support their cause in the  year ahead. Since 2014, our franchise community has given back more than $1 million to help better the communities we call home.

Received Industry-Leading Recognition

Throughout the year, Spherion was recognized by business pillars like Forbes, Entrepreneur and the World Staffing Summit for our continued work driving careers in the communities we serve. Here are some of the awards Spherion has earned:

While it’s nice to be “franchise famous,” the real honor of earning awards like these is knowing the work we do every day is positively impacting the lives of our employees, making our business partners more successful, and helping to better the communities we all call home

Needless to say, 2022 was a resounding success. We are thrilled about all we’ve accomplished, and are poised and looking forward to continuing on our strong growth trajectory into 2023 and beyond.
