We are seeking a skilled Business Process Writer to support the WI Retirement System's modernization efforts by creating and updating clear, accessible documentation. This role is key to ensuring that the workforce and stakeholders can easily understand new and evolving processes.
The Department administers a wide range of benefit programs for current, inactive, and retired public employees and their beneficiaries, group health and life insurance, deferred compensation, long-term care, and disability-related benefits.

- Pay rate: $28-$32/hr.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain detailed procedural documentation for evolving business processes.
- Update manuals, guides, and brochures using plain language principles.
- Translate complex technical and regulatory information into user-friendly materials.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and verify content.
- Create visual aids and structured content to support clarity and comprehension.
- Organize, maintain, and improve existing documentation repositories.
- Evaluate content to identify areas for procedural improvement or simplification.
Qualifications:
- Current Wisconsin residency and ability to attend periodic in-person meetings.
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in insurance, employee benefits, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional technical writing experience across multiple audiences.
- 5+ years of experience in employee benefits administration or a related industry.
- Proven ability to convey complex information in plain language.
- Experience designing visuals to accompany procedural documentation.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Demonstrated sound judgment, initiative, and problem-solving ability.
- Experience maintaining and organizing large volumes of technical documents.
- Skill in tailoring content to educate readers with varying levels of subject matter knowledge.
