About The Roles:
As a Fleet Technician, you will perform a variety of duties related to the maintenance, inspection, and repair of diesel trucks, trailers, and specialized equipment. ($28/hr-$39/hr)
For those with leadership aspirations and experience, the Lead Fleet Technician plays a critical role in overseeing these operations. This includes providing technical guidance, training, and workflow coordination, as well as performing advanced diagnostics and repairs. This position is ideal for an experienced professional ready to step into a supervisory capacity. ($37/hr-$44/hr)
Responsibilities:
Perform preventive maintenance on a wide range of fleet vehicles and specialized equipment.
Diagnose and perform repairs on diesel and gas-powered trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
Inspect and repair various vehicle systems including diesel engines, suspension, clutches, Allison transmissions, drivetrains, hydraulic systems, steering systems, fuel systems, electrical systems, HVAC, and air brake systems.
Properly diagnose driver complaints and identify root causes of component failures.
Maintain detailed service records, work logs, and inspection reports as required.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental requirements, and DOT standards.
Perform welding as needed for repairs and fabrication.
Additional Responsibilities for Lead Fleet Technician:
Oversee daily work assignments of fleet technicians and monitor progress to ensure timely completion.
Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to junior technicians, ensuring proper procedures, safety practices, and high workmanship standards.
Coordinate with management on maintenance priorities, equipment availability, and operational needs.
Troubleshoot recurring equipment issues and recommend long-term solutions.
Monitor inventory levels and ensure the availability of necessary parts and tools.
Skills:
Vocational training or technical certification in diesel/heavy equipment maintenance.
MN Inspection Certified (willing to obtain if not already certified).
ASE certifications or OEM-specific training.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills (especially for Lead role).
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Fleet Technician: 1-3+ years of hands-on experience in diesel engine repair and mechanical knowledge.
Lead Fleet Technician: 5+ years of hands-on experience in fleet maintenance, with at least 1???2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
Advanced knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, air brake systems, electrical diagnostics, and emissions systems (for Lead role).
Proficiency with diagnostic tools and fleet maintenance software.
Valid driver's license; CDL or ability to obtain one is a plus.
Must have own tools to perform job duties.
Reliably commute or planning to relocate to the Mankato, MN area before starting work.
Ability to work in physically demanding environments and lift heavy parts.
