Spherion Staffing & Recruiting is seeking a driven, results-oriented IT Business Development Manager to join our team. In this position, you’ll be responsible for driving client acquisition, sales growth, and market expansion through strategic outreach and deep relationship building
You’ll develop and execute a sales plan tailored to our geographic market (greater Madison, WI to Rockford, IL), engage with key decision-makers, and collaborate with internal team members to deliver technical staffing and recruitment solutions.
This is a hybrid position based out of our Madison, WI office. While you won’t be expected to spend much time in the office, you’ll be active in the market meeting with clients, attending networking events, and building strong relationships across the region.

Responsibilities:
- Create and execute a strategic business development plan to grow our IT staffing presence in Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through cold calling, networking, LinkedIn outreach, industry events, and local market visits
- Build relationships with technology leaders, including CIOs, CTOs, IT directors, and HR leaders managing technical teams
- Manage a pipeline of prospective IT clients, maintaining a structured outreach plan to meet and exceed sales goals
- Promote Spherion's technical staffing solutions, including contract, contract-to-hire, and direct hire IT placements
- Own the full B2B IT sales cycle, from lead generation and prospecting through negotiation and contract signing
- Partner with IT recruiters to ensure seamless handoff of new requisitions, clear client expectations, and strong delivery
- Maintain accurate documentation of sales activities, pipeline updates, and client conversations in our CRM system
- Stay informed on technology workforce trends, emerging skill demands, and competitive dynamics in the Madison and Rockford market
- Offer consultative solutions that align with each client's IT hiring needs and long-term workforce strategy
- Uphold organizational values in all communication and interactions
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to generate leads, close deals, and manage a full sales cycle
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
- 3+ years of proven success in relationship-based B2B sales, preferably in IT staffing, recruiting, consulting, or related technology services
- Comfortable engaging with technical and HR decision-makers, from IT managers to C-level executives
- Proficiency in CRM systems and outreach platforms (e.g., Zoom, LinkedIn, Hubspot)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to translate technical hiring needs into business solutions
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with a disciplined approach to daily/weekly activity
- Motivated self-starter with a competitive and enthusiastic attitude
- Bachelor's degree strongly preferred; equivalent experience in IT staffing or B2B sales may be considered
- Familiarity with IT roles and skill sets (infrastructure, software development, ERP, help desk, etc.)
