      Responsible for routine repairs, scheduled maintenance and cleaning of assigned knitting machines, sock sizing, occasional size and style changes and correcting any conditions or situations pertaining to the assigned knitting machines that adversely affect the quality or production of goods produced.Responsibilities:Must be able to accurately identify flaws in the product and make the appropriate repair(s) necessary to knitting machines to correct the problem(s).Must be flexible to work on different machines to meet production demands on a daily basis.Read and follow specification charts and materials accurately.Check stop motions daily to ensure they are working properly.Oil knitting machines without automatic oilers every two hours.Ensure that knitting machines with automatic oilers are kept full of needle oil and working properly.Blow off knitting machines with air hose four or more times per shift. Air hose must be at 30 psi.Size socks once per shift.Size socks immediately following a size or style change and anytime requested to do so by the Knitter(s). Size changes, hang one sock inside out and one right side out on machine.Participate in providing and receiving feedback to Supervisor and other members.Listen to instruction and feedback from Supervisor to improve performance.Monitor own break times ? begin work and return from breaks on time.Assist Supervisor in achieving a productive team by assisting other team members with production demands or absences.Perform size and style changes on knitting machines as requested.Make all attempts to reduce waste when threading and repairing machines.Must assume the knitters cycle of machines while Knitters are on break.Must communicate known problems with assigned knitting machines to the next Mechanic coming on duty.Keep all broken needles, sinkers, etc. picked up from the machines and the floor at all times.Accurately complete style and size change slips, lycra tension slips, and any other required paperwork in a timely manner and route them to the appropriate person.Follow all required machine flagging procedures during repairs.Prompt and regular attendance is required.Working hours: 10:30 PM - 7:00 AMSkills:Able to use the following hand tools: Tool pouch and belt, pliers, open end wrenches, allen wrenches, tape measurer, screw drivers, Tape Measurer, Vice Grips, Tweezers, Crescent Wrench, Magnets, Punch, Power Grinder, and more.PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Must wear approved hearing protection (i.e. ear plugs).Must wear long hair pulled back and tied.Must wear safety glasses when neededEducation:No Degree RequiredExperience:0-1 yearsQualifications:Must be able to read and write legibly.Must successfully complete the Line Mechanic Training Program.Maintenance or mechanical experience desired.ust achieve a passing grade on Mechanical Comprehension Test.       Operate an assigned set of knitting machines and inspect sock quality to produce a product that meets or exceeds customer specifications.Responsibilities:Run knitting machines on different lines to meet production demands on a daily basis.Communicate with the Mechanic regarding flaws in the knitting process and any other conditions pertaining to the knitting machines that could cause off-quality products. Must be able to repair yarn breaks and start up mechanical stops as required. Read and follow work orders and manufacturing specifications accurately.At the beginning of the shift, collect correct materials, per work orders, push the cart to assigned knitting line and place supplies behind knitting machines. Empty carts weigh from twenty-five to thirty pounds. Filled carts weigh from fifty to one hundred pounds. Obtaining yarns should be done at the start and middle of the shift and when a style or color change occurs. Grasp cone(s) of yarn/nylon weighing up to five pounds and place on spindle of yarn rack located behind knitting machine. Spindle heights range from thirty-eight to seventy inches from the floor. Thread the knitting machines by properly threading yarn/nylon through small eyelets as necessary. Requires reaching above shoulder level. Bend over and grasp socks that have accumulated in the knitting machine When cycling, thoroughly inspect the last sock knit at each machine. Inspect additional socks if a defect is observed. With one hand, pull one sock its full length over other hand and arm, twist arm and spread fingers apart to get a close look at the quality of the knitting. Pull sock off arm inside out and repeat process, inspecting the inside of the sock. Pull the sock off right side out. Every sixth sock knit by each assigned machine is to be inspected in this manner. During an eight hour shift, an average of four hundred (400) socks would be inspected in this manner. Complete daily work tickets, production forms and all other required paperwork in a timely manner.Ensure that the correct materials are threaded into each assigned machine.
