Skills Assessment

As you plan for the career you want, take inventory of the skills you have and the skills you still need to achieve your goals. One of the biggest obstacles hindering job seekers today is insufficient skills. To properly assess your skills, ask yourself the following questions:

  1. Do I have the right education and training for the job?

  2. Are my skills up-to-date with industry advancements?

  3. Do my written and verbal communication skills measure up to the task?

  4. Is my job knowledge well-rounded or is it limited to one area?

How did you do?

Are there areas you need to improve upon? Are there skills you still need to develop?

Make a list of your conclusions and add them to your list of goals.
